Chicago Public Library is committed to helping Chicagoans connect to the digital world. It is equally committed to making sure patrons have the skills and confidence to use technology to enhance their lives. It is our goal that all Chicagoans have digital skills that improve their lives.
Since 1873, Chicago Public Library has encouraged lifelong learning by welcoming all people and offering equal access to information, entertainment and knowledge through innovative services and programs, as well as cutting-edge technology. Through its 80 locations, the Library provides free access to a rich collection of materials, both physical and digital, and presents the highest quality author discussion, exhibits and programs for children, teens and adults.
Chicago Public Library partnered with the Public Library Association to bring patrons Chicago DigitalLearn. Chicago DigitalLearn is a video-based, easy-to-follow, online tutorial program designed to have users graduate with a foundation of basic digital literacy skills. Chicago Public Library is also using a few other programs to ensure that patrons are finding their way in the digital world. CyberNavigators are available throughout the city to help patrons get going online - assistance from real people in real time.
Chicago Public Library partners with government, schools, nonprofits and business to expand the outreach about digital learning services and programs.
